Resignation! Berisha shakes Albania
Sali Berisha signs his resignation. After five years, Albania without the autocratic leader. Former president: From the Palace of Brigades to Parliament
The DP, if we are only to accept it, does not exist and the decreed rules. The anti-Berisha celebration, the joy and the congratulations with it. Wounded along with all the police. Namo: Amnesty(?) to elected vote

Berisha, this dishonorable end!
BY SKËNDER MINXHOZI
Albania changed yesterday. Berisha brought to an end the closing chapter of relations with the presidential mandate, on Friday left still in doubt, but not even with Parliament in legitimate relations. Only three hours before Albania had another President, Sali Berisha offered himself another palace. Sali Berisha had offered his own, waiting for it to be given to him as property, in the former villa 31, the answer to the presidential agreement.
Albania changed yesterday. Berisha brought to an end the closing chapter of relations with the presidential mandate, on Friday left still in doubt, but not even with Parliament in legitimate relations. Only three hours before Albania had another President, Sali Berisha offered himself another palace. Sali Berisha had offered his own, waiting for it to be given to him as property, in villa no. 31, the response to the presidential agreement.
As if it were wisdom and courage to submit oneself to public truth. Three weeks after taking power into their hands through a pact that warned of the gangs of Albanian opportunism and the dangerous intervention of the free media, Sali Berisha and his government entered wearing a mask. There was no way to know what to make of Berisha as he walked toward the end of his time. He found it in me, at the gate. Completely frozen and small at the end, the history of Sali Berisha’s power was the collapse of a wall. The yoke of history was stitched together with Sali Berisha over these five years. And now, he is being handed over like a penny behind the doors of Parliament.
Yesterday’s procession of one of the country’s leaders, with the marked emptiness of this name, with the heavy step of departure, could evoke only a depressive feeling. A government made with sticks and glass, which through violence, street pressure, favors and slander was forced yesterday to leave amid a smoke of anger and, for the most part, restrained applause. Berisha was such an ending and Parliament was becoming his closure.
The taking of this office with so many tears. Three weeks after taking power into their hands through a pact that warned of the gangs of Albanian opportunism and the dangerous intervention of the free media, the new government once again put on the face of a long campaign for democratization. A miserable, silent and lost crowd, with the clear tide of names, before the eyes of Albania, was yesterday the final face of a long era. Wounded, but then rising.
The end of Sali Berisha’s rule seems likely to be remembered by some clear signs. First, the basic will appeared with an indescribable sadness to separate from power. Second, the entrance to the presidential residence, located opposite 29 November, took place in the evening hours with unusual speed, with the haste of a departure from the palace. Third, which may also have left the bitterest taste for the end of a regime, was the absence of the containment of state symbolism. What seemed like a physical departure from an office became a harsh, uncivilized departure without the necessary respect for state culture.
The end of Sali Berisha’s rule seems likely to be remembered for its disciplinary guardianship, which through threats, the use of police, and the subjugation of the administration and society, created a model of governance that will weigh heavily for a long time. This model fell yesterday in an almost silent scene, but not without the anger of part of society that had experienced his arbitrariness firsthand.
The man who until yesterday considered the state his own property was yesterday seen as a man hastily leaving the symbol of the state that he had used mercilessly. For this reason, his political end cannot be seen simply as a personal end, but as the end of a period charged with violence, fear and division.
If in 1990 he burned(?) in the streets of Albania with the ideal of democracy, in 1997 he leaves under the shadow of a ruined state, collapsed institutions and a devastated economy. This is the greatest drama of his public figure.
It was not a dignified departure. It was a dishonorable end!

Berisha leaves, the Presidency is looted
Just a few minutes after the President moved from the government post from the residence to the presidency. Citizens and soldiers entered the Presidency’s courtyard freely. Still unconfirmed are reports that several documents, weapons and vehicles have been stolen. Journalists from "Koha Jonë" saw the first movements of civilians entering the Presidency’s courtyard, three minutes after the convoy passed on the main road. Just a few minutes later the Presidency lost control, while a crowd of hundreds remained in the courtyard. During the evening hours, one part of the building had no electricity. The sound of glass breaking was heard, while some vehicles of the Presidency were seen moving toward the center of Tirana. Journalists present also saw people holding in their hands various objects taken from inside the building.
